NFL suspends Kevin Williams two games

K. Williams1

The uncertainty is over for Vikings defensive tackle Kevin Williams.

The NFL announced Friday that Williams will be suspended for the first two games of the season for violating the NFL policy on performance enhancing substances. Williams will be fined two additional games.

He tested positive in 2008, but the suspension has been on hold because of a long court case centered around Starcaps, the diuretic that Williams tested positive for.

We’d think this means Saints defensive end Will Smith is headed for a suspension too, but we haven’t heard anything on that front and this entire Starcaps mess has been unpredictable.

Jeremy Fowler of the St. Paul Pioneer Press notes that Williams is suffering from plantar fascitis, so the timing works out well for him.
