No meeting scheduled yet between Goodell, Burress

When word surfaced today that Browns receiver Donte’ Stallworth will be meeting with Commissioner Roger Goodell, we remembered that Goodell previously was expected to meet with receiver Plaxico Burress during the week of August 3.

Since it’s the week of August 3 and since Goodell apparently is in the office, as evidenced by the meeting with Stallworth, we checked into the situation again.

And we’re told that no meeting has been scheduled.

Frankly, we’re not sure a meeting is needed in light of the recent felony indictment of Burress. If Goodell treats Burress in the same way that he treated quarterback Mike Vick, Burress will be indefinitely suspended until the criminal case is resolved and any and all prison time is served.

Then again, Packers defensive lineman Johnny Jolly remains free to participate in camp and the preseason and games despite facing felony drug charges in Houston.
