We’ve got some happy news for Steelers fans out there: The doomsday predictions about Troy Polamalu’s knee have been proven incorrect.
Speaking for the first time since the injury Monday, Polamalu confirmed that he’s only expected to miss 3-6 weeks with a sprained MCL that will not require surgery.
“Regarding an injury to the knee, this is the best-case scenario,” Polamalu said.
The five-time Pro Bowler was hurt after Titans tight end Alge Crumpler fell on him, an occupational hazard for all Titans opponents this year.
The longest estimate of Polamalu’s return would potentially keep him out until the team’s Week Eight bye.
