Yesterday, Bengals receiver Chad Ochocinco proclaimed that he’ll be the new ESPN, via USTREAM broadcasts during which he’ll call the NFL’s news makers and get to the bottom of all relevant stories.
As of this posting, he’s doing one right now.
But it just occurred to us that Chad is actually presenting the show that George Costanza initially pitched to NBC.
“You see, it’s just like life,” Costanza said. “You know, you eat, you go shopping, you read. You eat, you read. You go shopping.”
Chad is in his dorm room at Georgetown College in Kentucky, and he’s got the camera on, and he’s just living his life.
He showed us the chicken wings and carrots that the team gave the players for an evening snack, pointing out that the recession is affecting NFL teams, too.
And then he ate them while talking into the camera. Along with a banana. And an apple.
He also complained about being in meetings from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
The background noise consists of guys playing Fight Night on Xbox 360.
But yet it’s all strangely compelling. We’ve never before gotten a real-time glimpse into the realities of training camp, and it looks almost as boring as the slice of real life that George Costanza wanted to serve up in prime time.
So keep it up, Chad. It’s a helluvalot more interesting than watching television.
