Though Super Bowl 50 is more than 10 months away, a bookmaking firm has already put a line on the game.
Online sports book Bovada.lv makes the NFC champion a 2.5-point favorite over the AFC champion in next February’s game, which will be played at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. The NFC champ is minus-130 to win outright, which implies the conference has a 56.5 percent chance of winning. The AFC-title winner, meanwhile, is plus-110 to win straight-up, which implies a 47.6 percent chance of victory.
The previous Super Bowl closed as a pick ‘em, with AFC champion New England coming back to defeat Seattle 28-24 in February.
Overall, the Super Bowl point spread has been narrow in recent years. Four of the last five games have lines of three points or less, per VegasInsider.com. And given how closely the conference champions have been rated of late, a small advance line for Super Bowl 50 isn’t a surprise.
But let’s take the point spread out of it for a second. Will an AFC or NFC team win Super Bowl 50? Let us know in the comments and via the poll.
