Orlando Scandrick comes back to Dallas to talk contract

Scandrick

Cowboys cornerback Orlando Scandrick has been away from offseason workouts, in hopes of getting a new deal from the team.

But perhaps watching them use their first draft pick on a cornerback made him re-think his position.

According to Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Scandrick has “temporarily ended his holdout” and has come to town to talk about a new contract.

The Cowboys have seemed hesitant about giving him a raise, with COO Stephen Jones saying just before the draft that they had just extended his deal in 2013.

But then they chose cornerback Byron Jones with their first-round pick, adding another talented part to the secondary that’s flush with some big deals. They’d probably like to find a way to pay Brandon Carr less, and they’ve already declined the 2016 option on former first-rounder Morris Claiborne, who is coming off a knee injury.

Either way, there seems to be a thaw with Scandrick, and this might be the first domino to fall as the Cowboys try to figure out what their secondary is going to look like next year and beyond.
