Stover kicked for the Ravens for 13 seasons. After Baltimore decided against bringing Stover back for a 14th season, he was signed by the Indianapolis Colts in 2009 to replace an injured Adam Vinatieri and became the older player (42) to play in the Super Bowl. Ray Lewis and Matt Birk aren’t the only members of the Ravens organization about which speculation is swirling regarding a possible Super Bowl win followed by a retirement. With Ravens director of player personnel Eric DeCosta signing a contract that reportedly pays him like a G.M., some wonder whether G.M. Ozzie Newsome will be calling it quits if the Ravens win it all.

Newsome, 55, says it isn’t so.

Mike Preston of the Baltimore Sun reports that Newsome was “very adamant” about the matter on Saturday, saying that he plans to remain with the Ravens -- and that he has no timetable for leaving.

Similar speculation arose in 2009, with the Newsome telling Preston that the Hall-of-Fame-tight-end-turned-G.M. wouldn’t be leaving to become the A.D. at Alabama, only two months after Newsome mused about eventually “coming home.”
