If you’re a Green Bay Packers fan seeking season tickets and you’re thinking about joining the NFC North team’s waiting list, then your patience figures to be severely tested. As in, perhaps your entire lifetime. That’s because of a policy that allows season tickets to be transferred within families. According to Tony Walter of the Green Bay Press-Gazette, the Packers have 81,000 on their current season-ticket waiting list. However, just 3,400 people have come off the list since 2001. And most of them were getting tickets due to the expansion at Lambeau Field. The policy has drawn quite a few complaints. “I was on the list for about 20 years and just said forget it,” Dennis Johnson, an Appleton resident, told the Press-Gazette. Of course, there are many people holding a large portion of tickets who sell them for a large profit annually. “What really burns my buns is how many people there are who are season-ticket holders and haven’t been to a game in years,” said Packers fan Steve Krienke, who waited 35 years to get season tickets. “They only see dollar signs when it comes to their tickets. It bugs me to no end to see how many opposing team fans are able to get tickets to games in Green Bay.” It’s reportedly just as tough to obtain a private suite. Team president Mark Murphy said that the renewal percentage this year for suites was 99.4 percent. The Cheeseheads definitely love their football, with or without Brett Favre.
