When Brett Favre left the Packers in 2008, merchandise with his name and/or number on it went from a best seller to the discount bin in Green Bay.

Once he moved to the Vikings in 2009, the dumpster became another place to find such items but time has healed the wounds of the past. Favre is headed back to Lambeau Field to join the Packers Hall of Fame this weekend, he’s going to have his number retired and he’ll be feted by the team at their Thanksgiving Day game against the Bears.

He’ll also move back into a prominent place in the team store on Thursday. The team has struck a deal with Favre to be the exclusive retailer for a new line of t-shirts, hats, coffee mugs, Christmas ornaments and more devoted to No. 4.

“Interest is starting to move up again with him being in the limelight,” Packers director of retail operations Peggy Prebelski said, via the Green Bay Press-Gazette. “We are getting people looking for his merchandise in the store, and even at the call center asking if we’ll have his merchandise. He definitely will be a best seller. We have a good assortment. If I wanted a collectible, I’d probably take an ornament. A fun item we’ll have is the foam fingers with four fingers on it.”

Favre will be inducted into the team’s Hall of Fame on Saturday and could see interest in his merchandise spike again next year when he’s expected to be elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
