The Packers have waived running back Knile Davis, per multiple reports.

The Packers acquired Davis in a trade with the Chiefs two weeks ago. He carried five times for five yards over two games for the Packers.

Davis will now be subject to the waiver system and eligible to be claimed on Tuesday. Davis, 25, was a third-round pick of the Chiefs in 2013 and has 11 career rushing touchdowns.

Unless the Packers plan to sign a free agent from a pretty thin pool of available backs, releasing Davis is probably a sign that the team believes wide receiver/running back Ty Montgomery will be healthy and that James Starks is recovering well from knee surgery he had two weeks ago.
