When Colts coach Chuck Pagano hasn’t been busy firing people this week, he’s been busy studying the Denver Broncos.
And Pagano has very high praise for the Broncos’ top-ranked defense.
“When you put on the tape on,” Pagano said in a conference call with Denver reporters, “they are very reminiscent of the 2000 Ravens. They have talent on all levels.”
That 2000 Ravens team carried a mediocre offense to a Super Bowl title, allowing a 16-game record 10.2 points per game. Seven games in, the 2015 Broncos lead the NFL in points allowed (16.8), yards per game (261.1), sacks (29) and quarterback rating (25.9).
The Broncos held Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers to a career-low 77 yards passing last week.
The Colts have lost three straight to slip to 3-5.
