Some information has been released by the authorities in connection with 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan’s recent car accident. More information will not be.
The Palo Alto Police Department will not be releasing bodycam footage, the 911 call, or the accident report, according to Tony Farmer.
Via TMZ, the PAPD said the information is “exempt from disclosure” under the California Public Records Act.
“Nothing will be released related to this accident,” a PAPD spokesperson told TMZ.
Which means we’ll now be taking a closer look at whether the PAPD’s position holds water.
The 49ers concealed the July 14 accident for 11 days. After a “clerical error” attributed fault to the other driver, Shanahan told reporters that he caused the crash after taking his eyes off the road to retrieve his phone, which had fallen from his lap.
Shanahan suffered multiple injuries, including a severe concussion that has kept him from fully participating in 49ers training camp.
