The Panthers had a group of defensive linemen in for workouts on Monday as they looked for depth in the wake of injuries to members of that group.

Early on Tuesday, they announced that they’d signed defensive end Tom Lally to the 90-man roster and waived defensive tackle Chas Alecxih with the injured designation due to a knee injury that had been keeping him out of practice. Defensive end Rakim Cox has also been sidelined of late with a back injury.

Lally tried out for the Panthers at their rookie minicamp this offseason and was a Division III AFCA All-American in 2015 after recording 20 sacks at Mount Union. He’ll be trying to stick behind starters Charles Johnson and Kony Ealy.

The Panthers also waived/injured wide receiver Tobias Palmer, who has spent time with several teams and played one regular season game for the Jaguars in 2013.
