The Panthers claimed tight end Marcus Lucas via waivers from the Bears Tuesday.

Lucas broke into the NFL as an undrafted rookie with the Panthers in 2014. He was cut by the Panthers at the end of the 2015 preseason and spent time on the practice squads of the Bears and Dolphins last season. The Bears signed him to a futures contract in January and waived him earlier this week.

He spent his whole rookie season on the Panthers practice squad.

Lucas, 24, was a wide receiver at the University of Missouri who converted to tight end in the NFL. The Panthers list Lucas at 6-foot-4, 235.
