The Panthers are cruising right along at 10-0, having survived the big injuries.
Now, they’re having to make roster moves to cover some smaller ones.
The team announced they had signed long snapper Danny Aiken, filling the roster spot created when guard Amini Silatolu was placed on injured reserve.
Aiken became a temporary need when regular long snapper J.J. Jansen came in with a headache and may go into the league’s concussion protocol.
“He said he had taken a shot [against Washington], so we’ll see what the doctors decide,” Panthers coach Ron Rivera said yesterday, via Bill Voth of Black and Blue Review.
Jansen has snapped in 106 games for the Panthers, but with his status up in the air, they needed some cover from someone who actually snaps for a living, rather than let defensive end Jared Allen or tight end Greg Olsen or Ed Dickson do it.
