Colts punter Pat McAfee made waves in 2010 by allegedly taking a swim in an Indianapolis canal while under the influence of something other than canal water. McAfee has now sparked a potential tsunami by taking a cannonball into the murky mess created by reports of Marines urinating on the bodies of dead Taliban.

Via WRTV, McAfee has strongly defended the Marines, sparking a firestorm of conflicting responses from his Twitter followers.

“Soooo people are pissed about our marines peeing on dead taliban??? #WhoCares #ThoseDudesTriedToKillOurDudes,” McAfee said on Twitter, which got the hot potato rolling.

McAfee has the right to speak his mind, and others have the right to support him, or to call him an idiot -- just as many did to Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall for his statements on Twitter after the killing of Osama bin Laden.

And companies (including the football team that employs McAfee to play a fairly fungible position on the football field) don’t have to associate with someone who espouses inherently controversial, inflammatory, and polarizing views, regardless of whether he’s right or wrong.
