Patriots right tackle Sebastian Vollmer’s season is over.
The Patriots announced today that Vollmer has been placed on season-ending injured reserve after suffering a leg injury on Sunday against the Dolphins.
That news is not unexpected, as Vollmer needed surgery after breaking his leg. But it is a significant blow to New England. Vollmer had started every game this season and was playing well on an offense that has had plenty of difficulties elsewhere.
Marcus Cannon is expected to be the starting right tackle in New England going forward.
The roster spot opened up by putting Vollmer on IR will be taken by defensive tackle Isaac Sopoaga, who arrived in a trade with the Eagles today.
