One of Bill Belichick’s trusted allies is back, at least for the time being.

According to Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald, longtime offensive line coach Dante Scarnecchia has returned to help the Patriots evaluate players through the 2015 NFL Draft.

It’s apparently a temporary gig, as he’s joining the team in Indianapolis this week to help scout offensive linemen.

Scarnecchia retired following the 2013 season, after 32 years in the league and 30 with the Patriots.

A year ago, he used his connections at Florida State, and helped point the team toward Seminoles center Bryan Stork, who quickly claimed a starting job.

Even if it’s for a few months, his experience is the kind of thing any team can benefit from, and the Patriots are smart to continue to tap into that resource.
