The Patriots evicted Matt Tennant before he could even unpack his boxes, cutting the center whom they claimed off waivers earlier this week.

To replace him on the roster, they brought in running back Lex Hilliard, according to Greg Bedard of the Boston Globe.

Hilliard was just released by the Vikings, but has the kind of versatile background that appeals to the Patriots. He can play some fullback, a position the Patriots lacked at the moment. But he’s not a true lead blocker. It also knocks them back to eight offensive lineman, a tricky number to pull off, which means more changes could be coming.
