The Patriots officially placed offensive tackle Nate Solder on injured reserve Wednesday.
The move was reported earlier in the day and made official in the late afternoon when the Patriots filled Solder’s roster spot by claiming Rashaan Melvin, a cornerback who’d been waived by the Ravens.
Solder suffered a torn biceps last Sunday in the first half of the Patriots’ win in Dallas.
Solder has previously only missed one game since being selected by the Patriots in the first round in 2011. Only Tom Brady has played more snaps for the Patriots during that time.
Marcus Cannon has been the team’s primary backup tackle.
