Patriots second-round pick Gabe Jacas was the final member of the 2025 draft class to sign an NFL contract, but the linebacker wasn’t interested in discussing the reason why it took until camp was underway for that deal to get done.
Jacas did not participate in the offseason program either, but said “it doesn’t matter” why there was a prolonged delay and that he’s just looking toward the future now that he is on the field with the team. Jacas had a surgical procedure on his left knee at some point in the offseason and the Patriots included an injury waiver in the rookie’s contract to protect against any future issues.
Jacas wasn’t willing to share any details about the issue with his knee beyond saying that all is well now.
“Whatever might’ve happened, I’m good now,” Jacas said, via Nicole Yang of the Boston Globe. “I’m grateful to be out here. . . . I’m fine. All that stuff is behind me. I’m 100 percent.”
Jacas will have to make up for the time he missed fairly quickly, but doing so well enough to make an impact on the field will make the rocky start to his Patriots run a distant memory.
