The Patriots didn’t need a long look at Jerel Worthy to decide they didn’t need him.

According to Shalise Manza Young of the Boston Globe, the Patriots have decided to release the defensive tackle.

The Patriots acquired him in a deal with the Packers two and a half weeks ago, in exchange for what was described as a late-round pick. If that was a conditional pick, it would mean the Patriots likely gave nothing up in the exchange.

Knee and back problems plagued the former second-round pick, part of the reason the Packers were willing to give up on him.
