Penn State S Kevin Winston Jr. declares for NFL Draft

Penn State head coach James Franklin said this week that safety Kevin Winston Jr. will not return from a knee injury to play in the college football playoffs and Winston announced on Thursday that he won’t be returning to Penn State next season either.

Winston declared his intention to enter the pool for the 2022 NFL Draft. Winston played in the first two games for the Nittany Lions this season.

Winston had 13 tackles and a forced fumble in those appearances. He had 77 tackes, 3.5 tackles for loss, and an interception in his first two seasons at Penn State.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that he is expected to be cleared in time to do on-field work by March 1, so he should be able to work out for teams well ahead of the start of the draft in April.
