For a guy who was on his couch a week ago, R.J. Stanford played a lot of snaps Monday night.

The just-signed free agent cornerback came onto the field for the second snap, and stayed there most of the game for the Dolphins.

Via Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald, Jimmy Wilson took the game’s first snap for the technical title of starter but was then replaced by Stanford, who played opposite Brent Grimes most of the game. The Dolphins were short-handed, with both Cortland Finnegan and Jamar Taylor inactive with injuries.

Stanford was with the Dolphins previously, so he knew what they were doing. But the former seventh-round pick of the Panthers is obviously trusted by the coaches to play a big role so quickly, even if the Jets didn’t test him often.
