Once upon a time, the Raiders made a huge free agent mistake by signing a Super Bowl MVP.

They can only hope that Malcolm Smith isn’t the next Larry Brown.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Raiders have agreed to a deal with the former Seahawks linebacker.

They desperately needed someone to take their money, and Smith was nearly extraneous in Seattle, where he only started five games last year.

He’s still a quality player, though he had to wait a year to parlay on his Super Bowl success, unlike the former Cowboys cornerback who stands as one of the Raiders’ biggest personnel mistakes.
