When the Raiders and Chargers met earlier this season, Oakland took a 12-0 lead in the first quarter en route to a 35-27 victory. They’ve already opened up a bigger lead in San Diego this time around.

A Darren Sproles fumble on a punt gave the Raiders great field position inside the red zone. It took a gamble on fourth down to convert, but convert they did when Jason Campbell ran nine yards for the first score of the game. Philip Rivers was picked by Michael Huff on the next Chargers drive and the Raiders converted again when Campbell found Jacoby Ford for a short touchdown.

That meant it was 14-0 after one quarter this time around and some serious cold water has been thrown on a Chargers team that looked as if it was finally rounding into form after their typical first half of the season woes. Nate Kaeding hit a field goal to start the comeback effort in the second quarter, but they’ve got a big job in front of them if they are going to remain within a game of the Chiefs.
