The Oakland Raiders signed first-round pick Karl Joseph to his four-year rookie contract with a fifth-year option on Monday night.
The Raiders selected Joseph with the 14th overall pick in the draft two weeks ago out of West Virginia.
Joseph started 42 games over four seasons for the Mountaineers. He totaled 284 tackles, eight interceptions, 12 passes defended, two sacks, eight forced fumbles (a school record) and six fumble recoveries over his career.
Joseph will provide a much-needed boost to the Raiders secondary, which was lacking following the retirement of Charles Woodson.
Joseph joins Connor Cook and Vadal Alexander as Raiders’ draft picks under contract.
