The bizarre story of “Woody,” the Tennessee sports radio caller who suggested that Titans coach Jeff Fisher should be fired -- and who sounded suspiciously like Titans receiver Randy Moss -- hasn’t gone away. And now Moss has addressed it, insisting that the caller wasn’t him.
“First of all that is not me, that is not my MO,’’ Moss said, per Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean. “I would never do an individual like that. What I do and what I have done speaks for itself. I conduct myself and carry myself as a man, so if there is something I need to say to you I’ll say it to your face. I wouldn’t go through no radios and try and hide and stuff like that.’’
Moss said he hasn’t heard the call from “Woody,” but he has talked to Fisher about it.
“The only person who needed to hear it wasn’t me was Coach Fisher,’’ Moss said. “I didn’t call no radio or no radio outlet. It was important for Coach Fisher to hear it from me that it wasn’t me because of all the uproar that people thought it was me. I just wanted Coach Fisher to know that’s not me and that’s not how I was raised and I don’t do things like that. He thanked me and was appreciative and we left it at that.’’
Moss, who will become a free agent this offseason, also said that he’d like to play for the Titans in 2011.
“This organization has been good to me. My production has not been where I want it to be or where the organization wants it to be. But when it comes down to it, I think they are happy with where they are at with me and I am happy with where I’m at,” Moss said. “Next year, hopefully, if the opportunity presents itself for me to be here, I would love to. I like the city and I like the people. . . . I wouldn’t mind staying here in Tennessee. I really wouldn’t.”
Fisher has indicated that he’d like to have Moss back. But if “Woody” gets his way, that won’t be up to Fisher.
