Rashad Greene says he’s shocking teams with his football knowledge

A player’s performance on the Wonderlic test is probably not particularly relevant to how well he’ll do in the NFL. But a player’s ability to understand the Xs and Os of the game is very relevant to how well he’ll do in the NFL. And former Florida State receiver Rashad Greene says he’s showing NFL teams that he knows the Xs and Os as well as anyone.

Greene told the Florida Times-Union that he’s had pre-draft visits with coaches who came away surprised by how well he understands NFL offenses, even though he’s not in the NFL yet.

“A lot of the teams were pleased and kind of shocked that I had this much knowledge of the game and such a good feel for it,” he said. “They had to stop me from talking when I was up at the board. I’m pretty comfortable with the [passing game] concepts being that [Florida State] teaches a pro-style offense.”

Greene was a very productive receiver at Florida State, with 270 catches for 3,830 yards in his college career, and he’s also a good punt returner. He’s not viewed as a first-round prospect, but he’s confident he’s going to have an impact instantly.
