On Saturday night, NFL Network will rebroadcast in its entirety Super Bowl III, the classic upset of the Colts by the Jets, which finally gave genuine legitimacy to the AFL.
It was also the only time the Jets played in a Super Bowl. And now they have to beat the Colts again to get back.
Programming on the league-owned network over the next few days also includes the 2007 NFC championship game between the Giants and the Packers (10:30 a.m. ET today), a classic 2008 Monday night clash between the Vikings and the Saints (3:30 p.m. ET today), the 2006 AFC title game between the Patriots and the Colts (8:30 p.m. ET Friday), and the 1998 NFC championship game between the Falcons and the Vikings (10:00 a.m. ET Saturday).
And Vikings fans everywhere just suffered a sudden surge of abdominal pain -- even the ones who insist that the Vikings will play the role of the Falcons this time around.
Meanwhile, Total Access expands to 90 minutes for the balance of the week, including Saturday night, and it culminates in a six-hour edition of NFL GameDay Morning on Championship Sunday.
And then come the games, starting with Jets-Colts at 3:00 p.m. ET on CBS and Vikings-Saints at 6:30 p.m. ET on FOX.
