Next week’s wild card round matchups in the NFC will have a familiar feel.
Packers will head to Arizona to face the Cardinals, while the Eagles will be in Dallas to face the Cowboys. Yep, the exact same matchups and home team that we watched Sunday afternoon. (We won’t get four rematches because of the AFC, but we could get three.)
Next Sunday, don’t expect to see Matt Leinart play so early against the Packers.
The Eagles also figure to play their starters longer. (Wait . . . Philadelphia just played like backups Sunday.)
We’re really excited for the NFC tournament because all six teams appear to have the talent to go to the Super Bowl. And the flaws to lose at any moment.
We almost feel bad for the Cowboys coming off their most impressive win in years. Now they have to repeat the same effort against the same coaching staff or it will ultimately prove meaningless. This group, however, looks tough enough to pull it off.
We still don’t know when the NFC rematches will happen, but the Eagles-Cowboys game is a logical pick for Saturday night on NBC.
