Well, this could be fun.
The Buccaneers, who hold the No. 1 pick in next Thursday’s draft, are set to host the Titans in the 2015 regular season opener for both clubs, Jenna Laine of SportsTalkFlorida.com reports.
The Titans, of course, hold the second overall selection in the draft. In short, a Bucs-Titans opener means quarterbacking prospects Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota could potentially make their NFL regular season debuts against each other.
In the end, the Titans could control whether we get the Week One Rookie Quarterback Bowl. The Buccaneers have long been thought to favor Winston. The Titans, meanwhile, couldn’t be faulted for taking a passer with their pick. However, Tennessee is also said to like second-year quarterback Zach Mettenberger, and there could be a good deal of demand for either Mariota or Winston at No. 2, thus producing some enticing trade possibilities.
In other Bucs scheduling news, Tampa Bay will host Jacksonville on October 11 and visit Washington on October 25, SportsTalkFlorida.com reported.
