It’s the time of year when teams offer players the option to take a pay cut or get cut and it looks like defensive end Mike DeVito will be weighing those options in Kansas City.

DeVito missed 15 games last season after tearing his Achilles in the season opener and Conor Orr of NFL Media reports that the Chiefs will likely ask him to take a pay cut for the 2015 season. DeVito is set to make a non-guaranteed $4 million in salary and bonuses in 2015 and count $5.4 million against the cap.

DeVito may be willing to get cut. Orr reports that he received “several inquiries from other clubs at the combine” that may leave him willing to try his luck on the open market. If he does get cut, he’ll be eligible to sign with another team immediately.

DeVito signed with the Chiefs before the 2013 season and had 28 tackles in 13 starts on the defensive line. He spent six seasons with the Jets before heading to Kansas City and was usually in the starting lineup for the last three seasons.
