Bills defensive tackle Marcel Dareus will serve a four-game suspension for another violation of the NFL’s substance abuse policy, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Tuesday.
Dareus also was suspended for the 2015 season opener for violating that policy. That suspension stemmed from a 2014 traffic stop arrest during which Dareus was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance.
The No. 3 overall pick in the 2011 draft, Dareus has been dominant at times in his career but is coming off a down year statistically. Losing him for four games would be a blow to a Bills defense that’s already been scrambling this summer to find replacements for injured players.
Schefter reported that Dareus can still appeal the decision.
