Fred Davis is having a bad week.
Just a day after being suspended indefinitely by the league for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy, Davis has now run into trouble off the field as well. According to Mike Jones of the Washington Post, Davis was arrested Thursday and charged with a DUI.
Davis was pulled over in Tysons Corner, Virginia in Fairfax County at 3:45 p.m. ET.
Davis was set to become a free agent next month. Davis said in a statement Wednesday that he was expecting to be able to apply for reinstatement to the league in the fall. With another blemish against his record, that plan may not go as smooth as Davis would have hoped.
Davis caught 48 passes and six touchdowns in 2009 and had 59 catches and three touchdowns in 2011 before an Achilles injury ended his 2012 season early. Davis caught just seven passes in 10 games with the Redskins last season as he approached free agency. With a suspension and DUI for Davis to overcome in addition to diminished production on the field, finding a new job could become a difficult proposition.
