The Cardinals have taken care of new deals for wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, coach Bruce Arians and General Manager Steve Keim, leaving the team free to move on to other matters.
A visit with former Eagles tight end James Casey appears to be on the list. Mike Jurecki of FOX Sports 910 in Phoenix reports that Casey will be in Arizona for a visit this week.
Casey was released by the Eagles last week after playing two years in Philadelphia. Casey had just six catches over his two years in Philly, which saw him used to better effect as a special teamer and blocker than receiver. With Zach Ertz and Brent Celek on the roster, Casey’s $4 million salary for 2015 was prohibitive for another year in that role.
He won’t sign for nearly that much in Arizona, where John Carlson, Darren Fells and 2014 second-round pick Troy Niklas are expected back next season. Rob Housler is a free agent whose return would grow more unlikely if Casey does join the team.
