If the Vikings can be enticed to trade disgruntled running back Adrian Peterson, where will he land?
According to one report, the options are Arizona, Atlanta, Dallas, Jacksonville, San Diego and Tampa Bay. Those are the six teams named by an anonymous source who told the Pioneer Press that a trade could get done before or during the draft, but probably wouldn’t happen after that if it hasn’t happened by then.
That source did not name the Raiders, which contradicts a previous report that they had expressed interest.
The question, however, is whether any of the teams with interest in Peterson would be willing to give the Vikings the kind of compensation they would demand. Minnesota is only expected to part with Peterson if blown away by a great offer.
It seems unlikely that a team would offer a huge deal to the Vikings for a 30-year-old running back who’s due $13 million this year, but if there’s a team that views Peterson as the player who can get them to the Super Bowl, maybe that’s an offer the Vikings will consider. With the first round of the draft nine days away, we should know a lot more soon.
