Steelers cornerback Senquez Golson’s second NFL season isn’t off to a much better start than his first one.
Golson missed the entire 2015 season after having shoulder surgery in August and he needed to be carted off the field at Monday’s practice with a foot injury. The first report about his condition suggests that he’ll be missing a big chunk of this season as well.
Aditi Kinkhabwala of NFL Media reports that Golson suffered a Lisfranc injury that could keep him out of the lineup for 12 weeks. That would leave Golson off the field well into the regular season and limit the chances that the 2015 second-round pick will provide much help to the Pittsburgh defense.
The Steelers are off on Tuesday, so the next update from the team won’t come until Wednesday at the earliest. Second-round pick Sean Davis played in the slot after Golson was injured on Monday and could see that become a regular role if Golson is going to be out for an extended period.
