T.J. Yates served as the backup to Matt Ryan in Atlanta last season after being acquired in an offseason trade from the Houston Texans. Despite a change in coaching staffs, Yates will apparently remain in that role this season for the Falcons.
According to Adam Caplan of ESPN.com, Yates has agreed to return to the Falcons on a one-year deal worth $1.5 million.
Yates appeared in just one game for Atlanta last season, completing 3 of 4 passes for 64 yards with an interception. Last preseason, Yates completed 28 of 53 passes for 438 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions for the Falcons.
