Matt Moore is part of an unusually solid second tier of quarterbacks that will be available this offseason.

We haven’t heard a lot of speculation about his future, although a Dolphins writer thought he might be a fit there. Panthers coach Ron Rivera hasn’t ruled out bringing Moore back to Carolina.

Rivera said Friday “Moore can get involved in our quarterback situation,” according to Joseph Person of the Charlotte Observer.

It seems like an unlikely match. The Panthers figure to add a veteran to the mix who could help show Cam Newton the ropes. Moore is 26 years old and has only started 13 career games.

Coming off shoulder surgery, Moore is an interesting pickup for a team looking for a backup with some experience and upside. He’s just not a great fit for the Panthers.
