Sam Bradford understands why fans are upset with him

During Eagles quarterback Sam Bradford’s press conference on Tuesday afternoon, he explained why he took some time off from the team in the wake of their trade for the pick used to acquire Carson Wentz and that his self-imposed exile ended after it became clear that his desire to be traded to another club would not be realized.

Bradford said that he heard from teammates who wanted him back during his absence, but the initial departure and trade request weren’t met with much support from the Eagles fanbase or the wider world of football fans. Bradford said he hasn’t looked at social media himself, but that he’s been told “it’s not pretty.”

Bradford said he understood that reaction and knows that nothing he says will speak as loudly as his actions when it comes to swaying people to a more positive opinion.
“I get it. They have every right to be frustrated,” Bradford said. “I think the only thing I can do going forward is to continue to get better. Go out there on Sundays in September, play good football, win football games and hopefully win them back. I don’t think there’s anything I can say, it’s all about my actions and what I do going forward.”

That’s probably true of everything in Bradford’s football future. While Wentz’s time will surely come in Philadelphia, playing well will afford Bradford a chance to win over fans in another city.
