Seahawks sign Travis Beckum, two others to contracts
The Seahawks are giving Travis Beckum a look.
Beckum, the former Giants and University of Wisconsin tight end, was among three players signed to reserve/future contracts by Super Bowl champion Seattle on Monday, the club said.
A Wisconsin product, the 27-year-old Beckum last appeared in an NFL regular-season game with the Giants in 2012. A third-round pick of the Giants in 2009, Beckum has hauled in 26 passes for 264 yards and three TDs in regular-season play.
As a member of the Giants, Beckum suffered a torn ACL in the club’s Super Bowl XLVI victory against New England. In the previous game, he caught four passes as the Giants defeated the 49ers for the NFC title.
The Seahawks also signed linebacker Mike Taylor and defensive back Terrance Parks to contracts. Taylor (6-2, 222) was on the Seahawks’ practice squad for a stint in December, while Parks (6-2, 218) was with the Chiefs in the summer of 2012. Taylor played collegiately at Wisconsin, while Parks played at Florida State.
