The Seahawks opened up a pair of roster spots on Tuesday and filled them on Wednesday.

Coach Pete Carroll announced that the team has signed fullback Will Tukuafu and promoted linebacker L.J. Fort from the practice squad.

Tukuafu gives the team another option in the backfield in the wake of Derrick Coleman’s broken foot, although his portfolio may not end at opening holes for Marshawn Lynch. Carroll said that Tukuafu could also see time on the defensive line, which is where he played in college and at points during his tenure with the 49ers.

Fort was signed to the practice squad last week and played in 16 games for the Browns during the 2012 season. He had 20 tackles and a sack in that action, but hasn’t seen any regular season time since then. Fort was listed on the Seahawks practice squad roster as a fullback, so he may figure into the mix there as well for a Seahawks team that appears to be prioritizing versatility as they try to fill in for Coleman.
