Seahawks waive B.J. Daniels, Rod Smith

The Seattle Seahawks offered another sign that Marshawn Lynch will be back for Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers.

The team waived running back Rod Smith and wide receiver B.J. Daniels on Tuesday.

Smith was signed from the practice squad on Saturday ahead of Seattle’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals with Lynch out and Fred Jackson hobbled by a high-ankle sprain.

Smith had two carries for five yards against the Bengals.

Daniels was active for the last two games for Seattle and caught his first career pass for 12 yards against Detroit.

The Seahawks are a bit thin at cornerback with Tharold Simon being placed on injured reserve and Marcus Burley out several weeks with a broken thumb. With Jordan Hill (quad) and Demarcus Dobbs (shoulder) also injured on the defensive line, Seattle use some additional help there as well.
