The Seattle Seahawks are continuing their efforts to comply with the letter of the Rooney Rule before hiring Pete Carroll as their next head coach.
Those efforts at compliance include reportedly convincing Vikings defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier to sit for an interview, and they may also include Chargers defensive coordinator Ron Rivera.
The Seahawks reportedly want to interview Rivera, although no interview has been arranged.
It’s not clear whether the Seahawks think two sham interviews will make the situation less of a sham, or if they view Rivera as a fallback in case Frazier refuses. But the Seahawks are hoping that Rivera, Frazier or both will agree to sit for an interview soon, so they can go forward with the announcement that Carroll is their man.
