Texans nose tackle Shaun Cody underwent back surgery last week, after a season of playing through a number of problems.
According to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle, Cody underwent a “microscopic lumbar discectomy surgery for a lumbar disc herniation.”
In layman’s terms, that’s “back surgery.”
Cody suffered a back injury in the preseason, but played 13 games. At one point, he was described as having a “rib issue,” which turned out to be a punctured lung and broken ribs suffered in a game against the Bills.
The 30-year-old Cody has been a solid piece of a very good defense, one which was slowed by multiple injuries last year.
