On the same day that the Lions lost a veteran lineman to a ruptured Achilles’ tendon, they landed one who had been cut just a couple of days ago.
According to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the Lions have agreed to terms with Shaun Smith.
It’s a one-year, $1 million deal.
Smith was cut Saturday, a day after reportedly clashing with Browns defensive line coach Bryan Cox.
Smith visited the Rams Sunday before heading to Detroit. He was due to visit the Bucs, too, but signed with the Lions.
In Detroit, Smith could help fill a void that was created more than a year ago, when Shaun Rogers was shipped to Cleveland.
