Nose tackle Ishmaa’ily Kitchen will visit the Texans this week, a source with knowledge of the situation told PFT.
Kitchen, 27, was released by the Browns on Sept. 1. He made his first three career starts last season with the Browns and played in 12 games. At 334 pounds, he’s a true nose tackle.
Kitchen entered the league as an undrafted free agent out of Kent State in 2012. He was signed by the Ravens then claimed by the Browns at the end of the preseason. He’s played in 40 career games.
The Texans list sixth-round rookie Christian Covington as the backup to starting nose tackle Vince Wilfork on their depth chart. There are currently just five defensive linemen on the Texans’ roster; the team cut 2014 draft pick Louis Nix III while trimming the preseason roster to the regular-season size of 53.
