South Carolina pass rusher Dylan Stewart has been regarded as a potential top-10 pick in next year’s draft. Recent events have complicated that.
Coach Shane Beamer has suspended Stewart indefinitely. He punched an Alabama player during Saturday’s game. He also was seen squabbling with coaches on the Gamecocks’ sideline.
Stewart was flagged for the punch but not ejected.
The situation clouds Stewart’s season, and potentially diminishes his draft stock. Which could, as far as NFL teams are concerned, give one of them a great player for a much smaller investment than it otherwise would have required.
