There’s been a Drew Stanton sighting in Detroit. Daunte Culpepper got the start for the Lions and the results have been mixed: He threw an early interception but also threw some nice passes to march the Lions down the field late in the first quarter. But then, with the Lions having first-and-goal from the 3-yard line, Culpepper came out and was replaced by Stanton, apparently because Culpepper hasn’t had time to practice in the goal-line package. Whatever the reason, it worked: After a handoff got the Lions to the 1-yard line, Stanton threw the first pass of his career, and it was caught by tight end John Owens for a touchdown. (It was also the first touchdown of Owens’ carer.) Overall, Culpepper has completed two of four passes for 78 yards. The Lions lead the Jaguars 7-3.
